The Series II is the re-sculpted and an evolved version of the Ghost model which made its debut in 2009. The car gets several exterior changes. The most obvious change is seen in the LED headlights which get a new design and are now ensconced in Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The Series II sports an all new bumper design and a choice of new body paint colours and wheel sizes ranging from the standard 19-inch to the optional 21-inchers. The ‘Wake Channel’ on the bonnet emanating from the Spirit of Ecstasy’ and culminating at the start of the windshield along with an elongated ‘Waft line’ are indicators of the car’s dynamic capabilities.

Step inside and you will find yourself in one of the finest cabins on the planet. The opulence and comfort levels are only what you find in a Rolls Royce. The cabin has loads of features and technological enhancements to help the boss run his successful enterprise on the move. The company says that the interior has been designed to offer their customers an oasis of calm and peace in this busy, connected world. The seats have been re-designed to offer better ergonomic support and enhanced comfort. Connectivity and navigation options can be viewed through the large 10.25 inch high definition screen with selection and scrolling controlled by the Spirit of Ecstasy rotary controller which is essentially a touch pad with a chrome dial supporting ‘pull and pinch’ feature showing semblance to a smartphone interface. On-board WiFi takes care of all the business requirements like e-mail, video conferencing, file sharing etc, while entertainment is provided courtesy of the audio system made by Rolls Royce. This system has a total of 18 speakers spread across the cabin with two bass speakers pumping tunes even through the boot affording a unique listening experience to the occupants. There is lots of space to store audio books, music and even podcasts, what with a massive hard drive capacity of 20.5 GB on offer.

The engine is a huge 6.6 litre, twin turbo, V12 capable of 563bhp and a torque figure of 780Nm. These figures give the car excellent drivability especially with the presence of an eight-speed ZF auto gearbox, which is now aided by satellaite and based on road conditions, selects the most appropriate gear thus helping the driver to extract the maximum out of the engine at any given time. This technology eliminates the need for frequent gear changes thereby providing a smoother ride with increased efficiency.

Regional Director, Mainland China, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Henrik Wilhemsmeyer had this to say at the unveil, “The Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II is the ultimate entrepreneur’s business tool. Following the worldwide success of its predecessor, I am confident that this re-designed and updated Rolls-Royce will continue to attract increasing numbers of new customers to the marque, in particular business entrepreneurs seeking an oasis of calm in a frenetic business world.”
