2015 Suzuki Vitara to premiere at Paris Motor Show next month

Auto major Suzuki has posted a teaser video of the 2015 Vitara on its YouTube account. This is the first time the manufacturer has done so. Very little is known about the car since the details have been tightly kept under wraps. More information about the model will be made available at its world premiere which will take place on October 2 at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

What is not hidden is the fact that the car is heavily based on the iV4 Concept which made its presence felt at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. A sole image of the 2015 Vitara has been released by Suzuki which shows that the car indeed resembles the iV4 Concept but in a more sober form. The car has big dimensions which is always a good thing for an SUV. The front end gets a thick twin-slat chrome grille flanked by headlight units containing double barrel lamps. The bumper gets round fog lamps with an unusual, vertically placed strip of LED DRLs. Other features which can be made out from the photo include blacked out A,B,C and D pillars thus giving an impression of a floating roof and five spoke alloy wheels.

The new Vitara will simply be called the ‘Vitara’. The Grand prefix which was added to it earlier has been dropped for the 2015 version. No word on the engines yet, but given the cars not-so-great run in India, the manufacturer may want to consider a diesel engine in the new variant if it wants to taste sales success here. The SUV did not do well in the sub-continent owing to the lack of a diesel unit and I am sure Suzuki is wise enough to have learnt its lesson.

The 2015 Vitara will go on sale in Europe by next year and keeping in mind that the current version is on sale in India the automaker will be bringing the new variant to our shores probably after that.

In the meantime, enjoy yourselves by watching the teaser video posted above!
