Volvo offered its much anticipated and hyped 2015 XC90 SUV with a very clever marketing strategy. Bookings for the SUV began on Wednesday afternoon and was available only through the company’s website. Only 1,927 examples of this First Edition model will be made signifying the year in which Volvo was founded.
All the cars were accounted for within 47 hours with the company claiming that at its peak, seven cars were being sold each minute!
The First Edition SUV sports an Onyx Black exterior and features 21-inch inscription wheels with 8 spoke design. The interior is luxurious. The seats get Nappa leather in Amber colour with the inlays lined up in Linear Walnut and the dashboard getting Charcoal leather. Entertainment is provided by 1400 watts, class D amplifier from the house of Bowers and Wilkins and 19 speakers, bringing the listening experience to a whole new level.
Powering the SUV’s UK edition will be a four cylinder, D5, twin-turbo diesel producing 225bhp and mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The First Editions can be differentiated from their uniquely numbered tread plates and a badge on the tailgate. The first deliveries in the UK will take place in April 2015.
