In a country like India, mileage is everything. With fuel prices going up frequently the main parameter of the Indian consumer when choosing a car is fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki has realized this very early on and has always been able to direct the customer’s attention to its products by making its cars frugal and easy to maintain.
India’s biggest car maker recently announced that bookings were open for its latest model – the Ciaz – for the amount of Rs 21,000. The manufacturer has also claimed the car to be the most fuel efficient sedan in the country with an average of 26.21kmpl for the diesel variant and the petrol giving 20.73 kilometers to the litre. No wonder then, that the car has already attracted 3000 bookings since September 3, the day its booking started. The company has also received around 12,000 enquiries as well. Maruti will be launching the Ciaz next month.
Engine powering the diesel version will be a 1.3litre Multijet giving 88.7bhp and 200Nm of torque. The petrol unit is the latest iteration of the K-series engine displacing 1400cc and making 91.14bhp and 130Nm of torque. Transmission will be a 5-speed manual with an option of 4-speed autobox for the petrol burner.
The car once launched will be up against Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Fiat Linea. With the festive season still to reach its climax, the numbers will keep on climbing for sure.
