Spied: Jaguar XE spotted, en-route to unveil

Jaguar will be unveiling its BMW 3-series rivaling XE sedan in London, a few hours from now. The car will be powered by the newly developed Ingenium engines and will also be the first sedan to be based on the new aluminum architecture called the iQ, which the company says, features 75 per cent aluminum construction playing a key role in reducing the overall weight of the car.

The sedan will likely have three variants. The base model should be powered by a 2.0litre, four-cylinder engine giving good fuel efficiency and a low carbon footprint below the range of 100g/km. The most powerful and performance-oriented version will probably borrow the F-Type’s 3.0litre, supercharged V6 engine hitting a top speed close to 300kmph.

The pictures tell the story. The car was spotted while it was being airlifted and we can only assume that it was being taken to the venue of its unveil. The shots provide a fairly good idea of how the finished product looks like. The sedan also gets features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a heads-up display. The XE will make its premiere at the upcoming Paris Motor Show with the UK launch to occur later this year. Indian launch of this much awaited offering will likely begin early next year.
