General Motors India has today launched the refreshed Chevrolet Sail hatchback and sedan. The U-VA tag has been dropped from the hatchback, it is now simply called Sail hatchback. The Sail sedan is priced from Rs-5.19 to Rs-7.64 lakh, while the hatchback variant is offered between a price range of Rs-4.41 to Rs-6.81 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
The Sail twins get minor cosmetic changes but more revisions are seen in the cabin. The fog lamps are now wrapped in chrome; the head and tail lights also see subtle alterations. The sedan sees an addition of a chrome strip on the boot.
Step inside and there’s more to write about. A new dual-tone theme consisting of black and beige is seen on the dashboard. The seats also feature new leatherette upholstery and the steering gets a black finish with the Chevy Bowtie adorning the centre. Chrome finish has been used to lend a premium feel and can be seen surrounding the AC vents and gear shifter. The door handles and centre console also get the same treatment. A double-din audio system will come as standard, it has Bluetooth functionality and can be paired to five devices at a time. The Icy Blue illumination for the instrument cluster and back-lights add a pleasant tinge to the cockpit.
Engines have been carried over with the same choice of 1.3litre SDE Smartech diesel and 1.2litre Smartech petrol engines. The 1.3litre, 4-cyl, turbocharged diesel produces 73.9bhp/190Nm of torque and 82.4bhp/108.5Nm of twisting force is produced by the 1.2litre gasoline unit. Both the engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Claimed fuel efficiency is 22.1kmpl for the oil burner and 18.2kmpl for the petrol burner.
These launches will help the beleaguered auto major to rake up better sales in the coming months. Pen your thoughts in the comments section below.
