Renault India has launched its much anticipated AWD version of the popular Duster SUV. The car is available in two trims – RXL and the top end RXZ. The company’s latest offering starts from Rs-11.89 lakh and goes up to Rs-12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The exterior changes are limited to the AWD moniker, 4X4 badging, smoke-grey alloys, blackened B-pillar and headlamp clusters. The interiors get dual-tone black and grey dashboard with the upper portion done in soft-feel plastics. The seats are also dual-toned with red and grey upholstery. Other changes include a three pod instrument cluster, three-spoke steering wheel, and a rotary dial (I Drive) on the centre console, which functions as a shift-on –the-fly controller for the three modes that this SUV has, namely – two-wheel drive, auto and four wheel drive with lock capability.
To complement the Duster’s new off-roading prowess, the SUV gets features such as ESP, ASR and also Hill Start Assist (to make those steep climbs easier). The major change however is in the suspension which gets independent multilink all round, greatly improving the handling and performance off the beaten track. The ground clearance of 210mm makes this car clamber over big rocks without any hassle.
The only power-plant on offer is the 1.5litre diesel churning out a maximum output of 108.5bhp coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Renault claims the fuel efficiency to be at 19.72kmpl.
We expect this car will make a worthy addition to the Duster lineup and bring in strong sales for the company, why? Because it has everything that the current Duster has and gets some features which make it a very attractive proposition. Got something to say? Let us know in the comments below.
