The new Vento looks modern and sophisticated

The new Vento sees some cosmetic changes which are not that apparent but still give the car a more sophisticated and elegant look. The headlights are new dual-beam units sporting a black finish and the tail lights have also been given a small tweak. The 15-inch “Spokane” alloy wheels (14-inch steel wheels for the Trendline), chrome finished fog lamp bezels, chrome strip on the boot-lid along with the body coloured door handles and side mirrors complete the exterior description.

VW-Vento interior

Interior gets a two-tone theme and addition of chrome

As soon as you step in to the cabin, the first thing that you will notice is the flat-bottomed, three-spoke, steering wheel that debuted in the new Polo. The steering wheel gets a piano black finish with controls for audio and Bluetooth calling functions. The dashboard has a two-tone beige and black theme while chrome has been generously utilized in the centre console instead of the previous black finish. Climate control now has AC vents for the rear passengers.

Volkswagen Vento DSG

Diesel variant comes with a 7-speed DSG autobox.

There are two petrol units and one diesel engine on offer. The petrol engines are the 1.6litre MPI (103.5bhp/153Nm) and 1.2litre TSI (103.5bhp/175Nm) units. The only diesel is the 1.5litre TDI producing 103.5bhp and 250Nm of torque; it is offered with both the 5-speed manual and the 7-speed DSG unit. The DSG gearbox however, is not offered in the 1.6litre MPI unit (it only gets the 5-speed manual) and is only available with the 1.2litre TSI engine.

The launch has been placed very judiciously and positions Volkswagen to make the most of the festive season. The 1.5 TDI DSG variant will most likely prove to be a good seller, since it is only the second diesel automatic in the country after the Hyundai Verna, and boasts of a far better 7-speed DSG autobox compared to the Verna’s 4-speed automatic transmission.

Below are the prices for the entire range (ex-showroom, Delhi):-

Vento 1.5 TDI DSG (automatic)-  Rs 10.49 – 10.94 lakh.

Vento 1.5 TDI (manual gearbox)-  Rs 8.57 – 9.90 lakh.

Vento 1.2 TSI DSG (automatic)-  Rs 9.35 – 9.92 lakh.

Vento 1.6 MPI (manual gearbox)-  Rs 7.44 – Rs 8.87.
