Toyota India will be launching the updated for 2015 Etios and its hatchback sibling – Liva on 15 October. The Etios nameplate has been received well by Indian customers and is selling in good numbers for the company. Recently though, it has faced an onslaught from the competition launching products like Tata Zest, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze. A minor facelift will be given to the twins to make them a tad more relevant.
The major, and I believe the only, change is given to the face with a redesigned grille presented in oodles of chrome. The side remains untouched and so does the rear.
The interior changes are much more apparent with a dual toned beige theme. Better fabrics for the seat and door trims and chrome embellishments for the center console and gear knob.
There are quite a few features which will become standard, such as electrically adjustable side mirrors, driver’s airbag and reverse parking sensors. This will bring in the much needed value for money aspect to the product.
No changes under the bonnet, which means the same choice of 1.5litre petrol and 1.4litre diesel, four cylinder engines for the sedan and 1.2litre petrol for the Liva hatchback, which shares the same diesel unit with the saloon. The 1.4litre diesel unit produces 67bhp and 170Nm of torque with a claimed mileage of 23.59kmpl. The 1.2litre petrol unit in the hatchback generates 78.8bhp of max power and 104Nm of torque with the company stating a fuel efficiency of 17.7kmpl. The Etios sedan gets the bigger and more powerful 1.5litre gasoline engine capable of producing 88.7bhp and twisting force of 132Nm with a fuel consumption of 16.7kmpl. All the engines will be routing power through a 5-speed manual transmission.
The cars will be launched on October 15. Keep up with AutoWire to get the latest updates during launch.
