Maruti Suzuki will soon be launching its new 2015 Swift by the end of year though the exact dates nor the price has been finalized yet.
Gaadi Waadi reports that the new Swift will not have much exterior revisions but will make more than up for it by getting some important features and tweaks to the engine. As far as the exterior is concerned, the hatchback will not have DRLs as earlier reported, but will instead get an L-shaped chrome strip on the fog lamp assembly, but only on the mid Vxi and top Zxi trim. All the trims will get a wider front air dam.
Coming back to the features and there are quite a few additions. The 2015 Swift will come loaded with electrically adjustable ORVMs, push button start, keyless entry, reverse parking sensor, and a new music system with speed sensing auto-sound capability. ABS and cruise control will be available on the mid and top level variants with the latter also getting ESP.
The main change however – and which will be appreciated the most by customers – lies under the bonnet. The engineers at Maruti and its parent company Suzuki have played around with the engine eking out more mileage from the engine. The source says that the 1.2 litre K-series petrol will be gaining around 1kmpl more bringing its fuel efficiency figure to 20.4kmpl. The coveted 1.3 litre DDiS oilburner will see its mileage go up to 25.2kmpl from the current 22.9kmpl claimed figure.
Maruti has remained tight-lipped on the power and price figures. But, we do expect the new Swift to be in the price range of 4.5-7 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). Want to say something? Put it in the comments section below.
