Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has also joined the name of manufacturers recalling their cars this year. The Japanese auto giant has called back 2338 cars covering popular models like Brio and Amaze apart from the CR-V SUV.
The fault has been found with the driver side airbag inflator. Honda says that the baffle plate in the inflator could be incorrectly installed and owing to this, the pressure may rise excessively in case of deployment leading to damage of the container. The most units recalled belong to the Amaze model numbering at 1235 followed by the Brio hatchback at 1040 units. The CR-V SUV is also affected but in meagre quantity – just 63. This recall is only pertaining to the above mentioned models manufactured between September 2011 to July 2014.
The owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted individually and Honda will carry out the relevant repairs totally free of cost at its dealerships. The company has also stated that it is not aware of any injuries or incidents concerning this issue in India.
This is a preventive step taken by the company and forms part of a broader global recall. Owners of Honda wanting to know whether their pride and joy belongs to the recalled cars list can click here and find out. All you have to do is enter your 17-digit chassis number.
