Meet The Most Powerful Road-Going Audi R8 Yet

The 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show is around the corner and there are a lot of exciting models waiting to be revealed. One of them is the Audi R8 Competition. This latest R8 is heavily inspired by the highly successful LeMans winning R8 LMS racecar. Audi says this limited edition is made for the driving enthusiast and you will have to be quick to grab one of just 60 examples headed for the US.

The fastest road-going Audi ever to go in to production

On the looks front, this limited edition sports car is a stunner by all means. It looks aggressive, mean and sporty with dynamism and serious performance written all over it. The design is not much different than the regular R8 but simple and well thought out touches lend its own unique appeal to the visage. Matt Carbon has been widely used to enhance visual appeal and performance. This material is used for the front spoiler, rear diffuser, mirror housings, side blades and even for the fixed rear spoiler. Delightful gloss black finish to the wheels and tailpipes along with anodized red brake calipers provide an interesting contrast to the whole color scheme.

Inside the carbon fibre theme continues with the centre console and the exclusivity of the car is conveyed through the illuminated “R8 Competition” door sills. A wider choice of customization for the interior and exterior, wheel colors etc. is available through Audi exclusive to suit the fancy of different customers.

The transmission tunnel is also made of carbon fibre

The Audi R8 Competition is powered by the same 5.2 litre, V10 engine with the power uprated by 20bhp to a total of 562bhp. Top speed is a very respectable 320kmph (199mph) with this R8 blasting through the 0-60mph (96.5kph) ritual in just 3.2 seconds. Great figures, made possible by the fantastic 7-speed, dual clutch S Tronic transmission.

If you’re impressed by the figures and have the dough required to make this supercar your own, then better get in touch with your nearest Audi dealer, as the company will start taking orders from this month. Deliveries of this beauty are set to begin at the start of 2015.
