Bentley’s super-luxury SUV to be called Bentayga

Bentley has been teasing its super-luxury SUV for some time now. Teaser images have been seen several times on the internet. The SUV is expected to be revealed later this year with a launch to follow next year. The ultra-luxury car maker has revealed another teaser – this time its a video showing the SUV clad in camouflage, testing in the sand dunes of the Middle East. Oh, and this time they have also come up with a name for the SUV. It will be called the Bentley Bentayga.

The name has been chosen carefully, very carefully. The company says that ‘Taiga’ is the name of the world’s largest snow forest north of its founders birth place in England. That’s not all. Apparently, there is a peak (or standalone rock) called the ‘Roque Bentayga’ in the third highest and second largest island of the Canarian archipelago. This huge rock structure rewards climbers with a commanding panoramic view of the rich landscape. The name of the company’s founder has also been incorporated in the title as well.

The upcoming SUV is likely to create a completely new market for ultra-luxurious SUVs after its launch. Here’s what Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors had to say about the name, “Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world – combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments.”
