Datsun, the budget brand of Nissan has launched its second offering for India yesterday. The GO+ is a compact MPV measuring less than 4 metres and offering three rows of seats. Datsun has priced the car lucratively at Rs 3.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The MPV is offered in four variants – listed in ascending order – D, D1, A and T.
The GO+ is based on its hatchback sibling and the similarity is seen in everything – from the exterior design to the interior cabin. The forte of the MPV is the third row of seats it offers at the back, but those are frankly best suited to small kids. These seats however have one benefit, they can be folded to increase the luggage space to 347 litres, essentially making it a four seater with more-than-average boot space.
The interior also has the budget feel and mirrors the one found in the GO hatchback. Power steering and power windows (only in front) are available on the top-end T trim and so is the much publicized mobile docking station. After the lambasting received by Datsun in the NCAP tests, the company has offered driver side airbags as an option on the flagship variant. AC is not offered in the D and D1 trims with the exterior getting black bumpers.
The same engine powering the GO hatchback is seen under the bonnet of the GO+ as well, this means that it is the same 1.2-litre, three-pot petrol engine producing 67 bhp and 104 Nm of torque. Transmission is a 5-speed manual and fuel efficiency is a claimed 20.6 kmpl.
The GO+ can be opted for in five colours – Red, Gold, White, Silver & Bronze Grey.
