Bajaj Pulsar 200SS is now officially called Pulsar RS200, launch on March 26

One of the most anticipated launches this year is Bajaj’s next motorcycle. Formerly known as the Pulsar 200SS, the bike will now be called the RS200. Launch date has also been confirmed as March 26 with a microsite already ticking down the time for the launch. The ‘RS’ badging could be for Racing Sports, hinting at the sporty character of the bike. The taglines of ‘Fastest Pulsar Yet’ and ‘Racing Soon’ leave no room for doubt about the direction that Bajaj wants to take with their soon-to-be latest offering.

The RS200 will be based on the Pulsar 200NS — it is the faired version of the 200NS — though the design will be a stark departure from the latter. The bike will get twin projector headlamps, LED DRLs, crystal LED tail lamps apart from the aggressive, sporty and muscular styling.

Engine will be plucked right off the 200NS. The same 200 cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled mill will be powering the RS. In its present form, it generates 23 bhp of max power at 9000 rpm and 18.3 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm. This will be the fastest Pulsar yet according to Bajaj, so expect a bump in power figures and fuel injection technology as well. A six-speed gearbox is expected to drive the rear wheels.

Optional ABS seems to be a possibility. Bajaj has been known to price its models competitively and with that in mind, pricing should be around the Rs 1.5 lakh mark. Once launched, it will go up against Yamaha YZF-R15, Hero Karizma R and KTM RC200.
