Volvo Cars India has launched the T6 variant of its S60 sedan. The car has been launched at a price tag of Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is not the first time that the car has been brought here. It was previously offered in 2011 with a straight-six engine but was discontinued back then due to unsatisfactory sales. However, with the market showing signs of recovery the manufacturer has an more optimistic outlook this time.
The new-for-2015 T6 gets a 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine having a power output of 304 bhp and torque figure hitting 400 Nm. All that performance is sent to the front wheels through an eight speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, which also afford the sedan a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 5.9 seconds. Top speed is a claimed 230 kmph along with the fuel efficiency at 15.6 kmpl.
The S60 T6 is the top-end trim in the petrol lineup, hence it is available only in the Inscription variant. It gets all the features that one finds in the diesel Inscription version and as with all cars from the Swedish manufacturer is among the safest on the roads.Feature list includes electronic climate control, electric sunroof, active bending lights with LED DRLs, leather seats, seven-inch infotainment system, digital TFT instrument cluster and power adjustable seats.
This is the fourth launch among the ones Volvo has planned for this year. The S60 T6 will go up against the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4, BMW 3-series and the Jaguar XF.
