Nissan India launches limited edition Micra X-Shift

Nissan has launched a limited edition of its Micra premium hatch christened the X-Shift. The offering comes with the company’s CVT gearbox and is based on the base XL variant; the CVT transmission was already being offered on the slightly more premium XV trim but now has been made more accessible to buyers. Only 750 units of this limited edition will be produced that has been built to commemorate the hatch’s fifth anniversary in India. The X-Shift can be yours for Rs 6.67 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

The X-Shift gets several exterior changes to differentiate it from the standard model. Changes on the outside are Matte Black roof wrap, chrome exhaust tip, X-Shift lettering on the door, black stickers on the body baseline and reverse parking sensors. Interiors get door armrests finished in silver and LED door sills.

Power will come from the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that is ARAI certified to deliver 19.34 kmpl. The CVT offers three driving modes lending a distinct character to the car these are – Sporty, Normal and Economy. The Micra is also one of the safest cars in its class getting ABS, EBD, AB (Brake Assist) and driver airbag as standard fitments.

Speaking on the occasion Guillaume Sicard president of Nissan India Operations said, “The demand for automatic cars has risen to over 3.5% in the last two years from less than 1% in FY12. Nissan is a pioneer when it comes to Xtronic CVT Technology and with the introduction of the XL grade in our CVT range; we aim to make this technology more accessible to our buyers.”

The X-Shift will go up against the Hyundai Grand i10 and Honda’s Brio.
