Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2016 AMG C63 Coupe ahead of its debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show 2015. The C-Class is Mercedes-AMG’s best-selling model and since its 2011 launch, has been growing in significance.
The car looks muscular and sporty with lines on the aluminium bonnet accentuating that character. The front end is wider than the standard coupe by 64 mm at the front and 66 mm at the rear. This allows for wider tyres and better overall traction. The fascia gets the single-slat radiator grille with AMG lettering, wide air intakes, and the distinctive AMG “A-wing” front spoiler. The sides get flared arches; “V8 Biturbo” lettering on the fenders; prominent shoulder and character lines; carbon-fiber – side mirrors, and side skirts, and 10-spoke AMG alloy wheels. The rear looks sporty and dynamic with the swooping roofline, sleek tail lamps and short overhang. Elements like the carbon fiber – boot lid spoiler and tri-fin diffuser; along with the quad exhausts and air extractors on either side lend a powerful persona to the posterior.
The AMG C63 coupe comes in two variants – C63 and C63 S. Both derive power from the 4.0-liter, twin turbocharged V8 engine producing figures of 476 bhp / 650 Nm and 510 bhp / 700 Nm on the standard and S models. Coupled with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, the 0-100 kmph dash is covered in 4.0 seconds in the standard and 0.1 second faster in the more powerful offering. Both are electronically limited to a top whack of 250 kmph; this can be increased to 290 kmph with the AMG Driver’s package.
Additional features that make their way in to the AMG models are exhaust system with flap technology and AMG Ride Control suspension with adjustable damping. Safety aspect has been addressed by technologies like Attention Assist drowsiness detection system and Collision Prevention Assist Plus.
The 2016 AMG C63 Coupe will be hitting showrooms by March 2016.
