Ferrari has begun its comeback in India with the launch of the California T. The company has also appointed Navnit Motors Pvt Ltd as their dealers in Mumbai. The showroom is located at Bandra-Kurla Complex and will start operations in October this year. The Delhi showroom will be under Select Cars Pvt Ltd.
The California T is the first turbocharged Ferrari since the legendary F40 and is based on the Ferrari California. The spider has a 2+2 seating arrangement and the retractable roof can open/close in 14 seconds.
The interior is luxurious and well-crafted with the seats upholstered in premium semi-aniline leather. The dashboard gets centrally-mounted AC vents, between which is nestled the Turbo Performance Engineer (TPE), a small circular display that shows information pertaining to the engine’s performance like turbo pressure. Below the TPE rests the 6.5-inch infotainment system that can be operated through touchscreen and conventional controls.
The California T derives power from a 3.9-liter, twin-turbo V8 that is positioned mid-front generating 552 bhp and 755 Nm of peak torque. This power plant is mated to a 7-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels propelling the convertible to 100 kmph from standstill in just 3.6 seconds. Ferrari claims that fuel consumption has gone down by 15 per cent over its predecessor and carbon emissions have been lowered by 20 per cent to 250g/km.
The California T is also equipped with F1-Trac traction control system, new springs with Magnaride dampers, carbon-ceramic braking with integrated ESP 8.0 and high-performance ABS.
The price of the California T has not been disclosed yet, but it is expected to be north of INR 3.5 crore (ex-Mumbai).
