Renault is going to debut the stylish Megane hatchback at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show that begins on September 15. The sportier RS version of the Megane will take a bit longer to be seen, almost a year later. X-Tomi Design has gone ahead and rendered the 2017 Megane RS for those who can’t wait to see how the hot hatch is going to look.
The rendering is pretty straightforward. It shows the exterior of the upcoming Megane hatch and has made minor modifications to the grille, front bumpers, alloy wheels and also lowered the ground clearance. The most striking feature on the exterior however is the addition of two more doors to the current versions two.
This is pure speculation but equipment will mostly be carried forward from the present generation which includes a 7-inch R-Link infotainment system with navigation, rear parking sensors and Renault Sport fabric seats.
Power for the new Megane RS will likely come from a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine working in tandem with an electric motor giving out combined figures of close to 300 bhp, which is more by almost 25 bhp over the one seen in showrooms today.
The hybrid system to the hot hatch segment is not new, cars like the Volkswagen Golf GTE and the under-development Peugeot 308 Hybrid-R are proof of that.
